Visit Visas are of two types

1.Temporary Residence Visas ( TRV)
2.eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization)
All individuals except Canadian citizen and Permanent Resident, require permission to enter Canada as a visitor and require either a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or an eTA (electronic Travel Authorization), unless they are US Citizens. An eTA is only for those foreign nationals who are coming from Visa Exempt Counties. All other foreign nationals require TRV( Temporary Residence Visa)

You need a TRV or an eTA if you fall under following:

• All type of Tourists (on vacation, family visit or emergency)
• Temporary foreign workers on work permits

• International students on study permits
• Business Visitors having no intention to enter Labor market

Three types of Temporary Resident Visas are possible:

• Single Entry: Allowing the foreign national only one single entry into Canada;
• Multiple Entry: Allows the foreign national multiple entries into Canada before the expiry of Visa and
• Transit Visa: All foreigners who stop in Canada for less that forty-eight (48) hours and are not from visa exempt countries.

All foreign nationals from visa-exempt countries, traveling to Canada by air usually apply and get electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) online, before flying to Canada. Online confirmation is usually received in 24 hours.

US Citizens do not require a TRV or an eTA, but Green Card holders in the United States, require an eTA to come to Canada, regardless of their nationality.

Normally it is the sole desecration of the Visa officer to grant visa or refuse. So one should be fully prepared with all the documents and information before applying as there is no appeal against refusal. You can apply as many times as you want but it goes into your records and each times you have fill in the refusal details.

One must focus on these points below as the visa officer will consider few or all of the following while granting or refusing Visitor visa.

• The officer should be satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay and you have strong family and economic ties back home
• Must prove that you have enough money to maintain yourself and your family members in Canada and also have fund to buy tickets to return home
• You will not under any circumstances will work or study in Canada unless you obtain proper authorized/permit
• You will respect the Canadian Laws and have no record of criminal activity in the past
• You are mentally and psychologically fit and will not be a risk to the security of Canada and the people of Canada
• You might have to provide additional information as requested by the officer
• You must be in good health. In few case depending upon from where you are coming or whether you have visited any specified country before coming to Canada, a complete a medical examination might be required.
• Also if you are planning to live longer than 6 months or are applying in some specified work positions, you must need to go through medical examination
• In some cases depending upon your country of origin you might also needs to go through Biometric verification.

As per rule all tourists are admitted for a period of six months only. Whereas temporary foreign workers or international students are usually admitted for a periods depending upon their work permit or study permit on a case-by-case basis. One can also apply for extensions from within Canada which again is on the desecration of the concern officer. You must have all the valid reason for extension so as to make a strong case.

Minors travelling alone

Canada is very strict regarding safety and security Minor children under 18 years of age. If a minor is travelling alone or with a person other than their parents or legal guardians, there should be a letter of authorization signed by both of the parents or legal guardians and it must include the name of the adult with whom the minor is travelling to or from Canada.

Further to safe guard the interest of minors if the minor is travelling with only one of the parent or legal guardian (where there are more than one guardians), there should have a letter of authorization from the non-accompanying parent or guardian.
